This author does her homework. I was truly impressed with her portrayal of prescription drug addiction. No one decides to become addicted, it just happens. It is a blight that the medical profession has yet to conquer. How to keep a patient comfortable and not drug dependent. Of course, the patient is the other half of the problem. I was also glad to see she didn't make it a one spanking cure.Product details

There is lots of pain and self-destruction going on in her life. Lucian has his work cut out to help her recover. I like that this story shows there is no easy answers when recovering from addiction and pain. What I didn't like was so much build up to the crisis point and then a short epilogue to wrap it up. I think I would have like to see a bit more of Lucian helping her through her recovery.
Ida Mayfield is the ultimate diva. She has worked hard to get to the top of her game through hard work and a few temper tantrums along the way. A car accident brings all of that to a halt for Ida, until she turns to Vicodin and Oxy to help with the pain. When taking more begins to do less for her, she becomes increasing harder to work with or control.
Lucian de Averley is asked to join the opera company to help tame her, and with this he has had some experience. Once lovers, Ida finds it increasing harder to hide her issues from him. A few sessions across his knee seem to help, but as Ida's drug use gets increasingly out of control, Lucian employs his own methods to save not only Ida's career but her life.
I loved these two. Lucian and Ida had a nice chemistry, which is Maren Smith's strong suit. Her character development is top notch, and the writing is superb. Knowing from the beginning of Ida's back problems, then reading the scenes of Lucian wrestling her across his knee for spankings made my own back ache. Once he learns how bad her problem is, he alters his methods, determined to see the Diva well and on her way to recovery. Maren Smith does it again with clever dialogue and engaging characters. Another Maren Smith winner.
Maren Smith is one of my favorite authors and this book did not disappoint! Great story with a wonderful ending!!
This had it all great chemistry between characters great romance well described scenes and spankings, I also liked the hero he really loved her and it showed. Loved the ending
